One of the Oz guys gave a detailed explanation of running power to the rear. A search using "anderson" should pint you in the right direction. Can't remember if it will take you directly to the post or if you need to view one of the results that then links to another thread I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Can't tell you unitl I get the Traxide kit
Or do you mean full power to the rear for a winch or something?
I actually meant any power, regardless of what it is, we still need to get the cable down the Disco, assuming you want the socket in the trailer plug area its best external.
Did not occur to me that the kit would include instructions for running the cabling, that would be a bruce'y bonus for those that ordered them...Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

Hi folks, I won’t go into too much detail yet as I am in the process of finalising Site Sponsorship with Martin.
If you are running cable to the rear of a D3 it is not only safer to run it through the cab but the D3 is without a doubt one of the easiest vehicles I have ever worked on, to run cable through the cab.
As to mounting the Anderson plug at the rear, there is actually no reason to fix the Anderson plug to the rear end, just leave it loose and it can be tucked away when you put the tow hitch cover back on.

thanks for the tip drivesafe.
I have not taken any trim off the Disco yet, so was not sure what it was like internally, first look seemed that some heavy duty conduit with the cable in underneath may be the best bet but I will consider the internal route now.
How do you get it out at the back, through the grommits behind the light that the tow wiring uses? (just fitted tow electrics last week so this is fresh in my mind!)Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

Ian, are you adding an signup option for the "full monty" Battery + bracket, SC80LR and LR-FPC?
And if I buy one can I come round to your place and copy you while you do your installation? It's already pushing wifely spend tolerances and I don't want to shell out for fitting as well.
Will bring beer!
cheers

Hi whatgoeshere, as posted, I won’t go into too much detail yet as I am in the process of finalising Site Sponsorship with Martin, as soon as I do, I will post a load of info with pics and whether you get a kit off me or not, the cabling info will be there for all to use.

drivesafe - ok thanks.
I guess I am actually just being a bit lazy
I have run large gauge cabling down cars before, I am sure its not hard in the Disco, but sometimes its easier to learn from other peoples mistakes and make fresh exciting new ones rather than repeat the same boring ones
All I need now is the group buy to finish, decided which charging system I want, order some cable, find my existing stock of plugs and andersons, wait for it to not rain for an entire weekend, take the car apart, explain to SWMBO why the car is in pieces when she wants to use it (technically its her car ), get it all back together, take it apart again to find out why its not working as expected, put it back together once i realise stupid mistake has nothing to do with that, then ensure everything charges up as expected.
Suddenly I am glad next planned camping trip is in August... Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

Upgraded to SC80...
I presume the bracket IS in there - with the battery, not with the SC80.
I also presume (hope) that I won't have to disturb current I mean existing towing electrics with their own aux. charge relays...

Hi Andrew, none of the kits being provided in the group buy have the LR battery bracket or bolts. This was done to get the weight down and the price has been adjusted.
BTW, you lot over there can actually buy the bracket, one up, cheaper than I can get them here in a bulk buy.
The kits require one single connection to the D3’s power, at the cranking battery and there are no alterations to any of the existing D3’s wiring or electrical components.

@Rob No problem matey, will be a learning experience for us both But I don't think it will be too difficult.
I can only do three sign up options, but as I now know you want the full monty then if you change your signup for the SC80 & then I'll sort the rest.
@AndrewW Bracket is in the price of the Battery,
@Donald No problem, will PM you later with payment details
OK, so will say that the signup ends this coming SUNDAY NIGHT 9pm 25th May.
Anyone that only wants the Traxide bits but without the battery, please sign up for the battery option (above) which indicates whether you want the SC40 or the SC80. Then post EXACTLY what you want in the post.
I will PM all people with payment details either before 25th (if you have indicated already) or after 25th once the signup is closed. Bodsys Brake Bible
