hi
sad day indeed
dunclife is tooooo short.enjoy the moment.dont worry be happy
Yep, am very sad, as the D3 has been all it was supposed to be - it did exactly what it said on the tin.
Although never tried in anger for it's off road capabilities (we have the 90 for that) it has been a truly superb vehicle, even if I have looked after it like some form of demented nutcase.
Only a forced job change - because the business I was with was sold - means that I have to have a company car from an approved list come August the 1st. This makes the D3 an expensive luxury on the driveway, and I'd be silly just to let it sit there and cost money - when I can't use it.
Had some good times in it too - not least on long runs between Hereford and Lancashire - via the Welsh back roads - just for fun.
Still, we have the Defender - and that's on it's way to be 'fettled' so the 9 years that we've owned it are not so evident!
Am open to serious offers on the D3 - and someone will be getting a really good, reliable vehicle in excellent condition...
Cheers,

Don't want to be a damp squid, but mine hasn't got any interest privately, and at roughly the same price, but a year younger......I certainly wont tell you the silly offers I have had from stealers - enough to make a grown man break down in tears........
I think the whole market is dead in the water at present
Next April the tax increases to £300 per year, and £430 per year in April 2010 Previously:

Sorry you've not had any interest in yours, it looks a great vehicle. Early signs here are a bit more encouraging as a nearby 4x4 garage has a buyer who wants a grey D3 HSE... we've not agreed a price, and the deal is far from done, but the opening offer wasn't too outrageous. Also had a call from someone local who wants to see it tonight. Probably a tyre kicker - but you never know.
All I know is that I'll accept a sensible offer - and I'm ever the optimist..!From a two Land Rover household to one big FFRR...

Muddy,
What I mean is the new rates which come into force the following year and are effective for vehicles registered after 1st March 2001.
So March 2008 - March 2009, this vehicle falls into band F as you state. But from March 2009 the vehicle will fall into either;
First registered 1st March 2001 onwards:-
Band L 226 - 255 g/km CO2 and above Alt £400 Petrol/Diesel £415
or
Band M Over 255 g/km CO2 and above Alt £415 Petrol/Diesel £440
Depending on the CO2 of this vehicle.
Then from March 2010 the rates are;
Band L 226 - 255 g/km CO2 and above Alt £420 Petrol/Diesel £430
or
Band M Over 255 g/km CO2 and above Alt £455 Petrol/Diesel £455
As stated in the detail of this years budget;
Note that the exemption from higher rates for vehicles first registered before 23-3-2006 no longer applies. These CO2 rates apply to all vihicles first registered after March 2001.
I was aware that the tax was on an increasing scale - but at least for 2009 this vehicle will be about £100 better off.. now that's almost a tank of diesel at today's prices.. and about 470 miles the way I drive...
And on the topic of selling it - yes, the visitor who came to see the vehicle - just kicked the tyres...
Will probably end up with it going to auction if the locals don't buy it. It will be sold one way or another - and soon.

I think the last thing on my mind is the bloody Road Tax. Who gives a toss if it's 300 or 400 in this year or that year when we're losing 1000's in depreciation cos of some f*ucked up policy designed to screw us to the wall! Then there's the fuel price. Christ, I'm buying a years worth of road tax every soddin' month with the extra hike in fuel! TBH, I don't even think about Road Tax. Discocuzzy has the right idea, which is what I'm going to do - drive it till it becomes a classic, and then maybe it'll be worth something! At the moment, stealer says it's worth £23k! 45k miles on a 56 HSE. Should have kept the 90 XS!! Don't be paranoid.........'They' don't like it!!!!!!!

on the subject to auctions, might want to try bca (bristish car auctions), they have LR Open Sales once a month, alot of joe public and stealers attend, you can stick him in a sale to run along side the same day, might help your chances, might also put him in BCA Blackbushe, one of the bigger sites,(surrey) particularly on a Bank Holiday Monday! (alot lot of joe publics.
You can put him in three auctions for a small amount of entry fee, if it doesnt sell, then off to manheim or another auction house, if you need to know when and where the bca LR Open Sales are, give me a pm and I'll give you me access code / password for auctionview that lists all the vehicles and sales throughout the country each day/week/month

should i be worried
just been reading these.
i've just paid £29.8k from dealer for oct56 hse 9.5k on the clock.
whats this about 56hse being worth 23k trade-in.
should i start crying ?.
whilst looking through april / may all dealers have been looking for around £30k
and i've never seen so many d3 on the road since getting mine last week.
in fact there's so many 4X4 on the road and with new one comming to the market i'm woundering
what all the worry is about. apart from fuel price of course. it costing me about £15 more in fuel
than i spent on my a4 2.5tdi for the same miles so not to bad.
not looking to get shot of it before i've even got use to it.
