4x4 TREASURE HUNT - 29 June 2008 at HENNOPS OFF-ROAD TRAIL |
|
Girls & Boys Town South Africa, which is based on non-denominational principles was founded in 1958 with the establishment of Boys Town Magaliesburg, Gauteng. Today, the organisation operates facilities in the main centres of South Africa. The residential programmes provide care and development for youth who range from the disadvantaged, deprived, abused and neglected to those regarded as being difficult to manage and ‘at risk.’
The unique feature of the Girls & Boys Town movement in South Africa is the ‘peer-group’ (self-government) system where youth are significantly involved in decision-making concerning their own affairs. Youngsters govern themselves under the guidance of adults. Promotion and progress are determined by the youth’s maturity of thought, ability to master the social skills programme and readiness to accept responsibility within the Girls & Boys Town society.
Today, Girls & Boys Town South Africa has a proud record of success spanning almost 50 years and is regarded by professionals and the general public as the leader in helping youth where others have given up hope.
Girls & Boys Town South Africa depends on its ability to raise funds. One of its key annual fund raising activities is a Family 4x4 Treasure Hunt, taking place at the HENNOPS OFF-ROAD TRAIL.
Entry Fee: R200 per vehicle – all proceeds go to Girls and Boys Town SA.
If you register before the 20th June 2008, this is reduced to R150.
The event will be promoted by Radio Sonder Grense’s Francois Roussow on his weekly show and is guaranteed to be a great day out. This year, the event will attract approximately 100 vehicles to a well planned and more challenging course than in previous years, giving drivers and their vehicles the chance to test their capabilities against a series of obstacles as well as testing the mental agility of the occupants by completing a number of questions (Treasure Hunt) about the route. We are please to announce that there will be some obstacles new to Hennops including a nice challenging River Crossing.
Registration opens from 09.00 - The event commences at 10am
