Blackberry Pearl playing through the AUX |
|
I'm trying to use my BB as a music player through the AUX port. The BB has a 2.5mm jack socket so I have a 2.5 to 3.5 plug to make it fit.
But it doesn't work.
Anything I have with a 3.5 jack socket just works through the AUX.
I don't have another gadget with a 2.5 outlet to test though.
If I plug in any 2.5mm headset into the BB , that just works.
If I leave the 2.5 to 3.5 in line and connect a 3.5 headset , that also just works so that tests out the cable and the 2.5 to 3.5 converter.
I'm probbaly missing something very obvious here ??
Any ideas ? ..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

vol max on both the BB and D3
The BB keeps playing though its own speaker regardless of if the AUX cable is in or out, until I plug in a 2.5mm head set then it cuts off the internal BB speaker and works through the wired headset. ..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

sounds like it's the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter to me? have you tried plugging the combo into anything else like a PC line in or something to see if it works on that? also is your adapter a stereo one ie three seperate connectors on the plugs , some devices don't like having a mono lead plugged into them...
edit: just reread you initial post about the headphones and theeeeennn......???

I'll try my BB Pearl tomorrow using the 2.5 jack and 3 core line I spliced into the Aux and let you know if it works.I was using the BB up till a short while ago but sidelined it in favour of a Nokia E 90.

ah now, with a small amount of 'googling' ....
"The generic 3/32-to-1/8 adapors dont work for stereos that recieve dual channel input! If you buy a generic 3-band 3/32-to-1/8 adaptor (no mic), your stereo will only play 1 channel out of one speaker. If you think you are smart and you buy a generic 4-band 3/32-to-1/8 (with mic) for most phones with mic, the pearl doesnt detect a headset and will play out of the built-in speaker or ear reciever.
Its the right adaptor, but the Pearl's "smart" sensing of an audio plug wont pick it up.
Wether you want mic or not,
You need a Pearl specific 3/32-to-1/8 adaptor for dual channel audio output !!!
2 can be found at
"seido.com" "
so it would suggest you need a BB Pearl 2.5 adapter to fool the BB into thinking there are headphones plugged in, must be an impedance related sensing thing, else it looks like it plays out of the inbuilt speaker I'm afraid and theeeeennn......???

Cool, Thanks for this.
My browsing efforts took me to loads of "BB Chat rooms" , mostly in the States where this is discussed, but nothing along the lines you mention ...
Thanks ..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........
