Just noticed that they now do a DVD with Western and Eastern Europe on it
Countries included are:

For central and eastern europe it has rather poor coverage in the "counrtyside" (= including cities of 100.000 inhabitants! - see the picture of smetanovo namesti; best is to compare the d3 navigation screen with new disk and the data which navteq has available)
I decided not to buy it and to keep on using the tomtom (99%coverage). For the price of the disc you have a complete tomtom. Some people get by
With a little understanding

With a whole lot more

I bought it because I was irritated having a blank screen and, so far, it's been OK. My two young sons enjoy hearimg the car telling us where to turn and keep asking me to catch it out by taking a diffferent turning.

You can buy a lot of road maps and still have money left over for diesel for the same price

bk to maps
map of Poland is almost useless in the countryside as the categorization of roads is v.poor for local roads. main roads and cities are ok, but when u r where u need it most like lcl roads u'll soon find out that there is no difference between small paved or unpaved road
if u enter the destination let's say 50km from your start point (and which is on the same local rd as your start point) the system often tells you to go first to the closest main road, then to the point on the main rd which is close to destination point, and then to your destination - u may finish driving 120km instead of 50km

I agree that it is good in the cities. A few weeks ago I was up near Olsztyn. Going back to our hotel (about 25kms from where we had been for lunch), it tried to lead me along a private track through a forest. I wanted to continue to see what happended but SWMBO requested that we return via a more normal road. I was quite impressed that the sat nav had found the track mind you. Clearly it is programmed to send the D3 to its natural habitat.
