Bluetooth Compatible Phones

I am currently due an upgrade on my mobile phone and would be interested in knowing what phones people have or have not been able to get going with Bluetooth to help narrow down the selection.

Both my Nokia 6310i and 6230i both do everything I expect of them over Bluetooth whilst sat in a cup holder, including dialing using the radio buttons and showing a callers number on the display behing the steering wheel.

Every Bluetooth phone that works will do that. Smile

I have a Nokia 6310i which I can use in the vehicle using Bluetooth and an Ericsson T68i that I can not. Perhaps it is my T68i (an early Bluetooth phone) that is at fault. My understanding is that Bluetooth specification is not a tightly defined standard and as a consequence there may be compatibility issues.

I think the early Ericsson 'phones were available before the BT 1.0 standard (or 1.1 ) was agreed - my elderly R520 will work with a headset, but not with computer nor Disco. Sounds like yout T68i could be of a similar vintage.

I found it easier to buy a Sony Ericsson T630 new for £60 than try to find a cradle for it or get hold of a second-hand 'phone that matched those on the LR "approved" list.

I find that I have to occasionally force a disconnect and reconnect on the 'phone so that the Disco 'sees' it.

Standard factory kit that comes with a 2006MY HSE.

I'd let you know the build date but I can't find the post that lets you decode the VIN to that level

It is a dealer fit I have so unfortunately all I have is the Bluetooth (however modules are the same).

Initially I had a problem that with the Nokia 6310i (or any other phone that worked) that if I made a call and there was no one there to answer I had great difficulty in cancelling the call. A new module was fitted 2 weeks ago and that cured the problem. I was advised that although the module was only fitted in September it was probably an older one which had been "on the shelf" for a while and that there had been some problems with earlier versions. I was also advised that they had replaced a number of the modules.

Anyway back to the original question what phones work with Bluetooth and what phones do not.
