Thanks guys - would not have been able to attempt the fitment on my own - especialy the agression needed to rip the panels off
Must say my kids are suitably impressed
Drove home with screw intact - but could not seal the puncture once removed - so 1XD3 with Ipod fitted with completely flat rear wheel Will attempt to get spare out after a couple of beers today Erstwhile - D3 S '07. Deon & Heine - you need to post pics of your installations seeing as they are a bit more on the creative side. The rest of us went for bog-standard.

All I did was bring the ipod cable out at the bottom of the centre console , as I have placed the ipod next to the stearing wheel . I can now see what is playing as well as have easy access to the ipod . I didn't bother with the rest of the inputs , as I already have aux inputs behind the driver and I don't need USB input . The whole thing took 10 mins to do

I have been playing with eq settings and find the rock gives the best quality (for my ear and my type of music ) . I have also run the files through a converter , http://www.effectmatrix.com/total-video-converter/
which has allowed me to increase the playback volume quite a bit without any real decrease in sound quality . I encode at 320 kbs so YMMV at lower bitrates

Could not get the USB and Ipod cables in the position I wanted so ended up "storing" them underneath the little lid behind the EPB lever - where Heine and Baben have their switch for aux fuel pump. When I pop them out of there it is long enough to go into the cubby box where the Ipod/stick can be hidden from prying eyes. I did manage to get the RCA unit stuck to the side of the cubby box at the rear .
For those wanting to remove centre unit - you MUST undo screw ion front of EPB lever
I also now located the little cable loop that must be pulled in case of EPB failure - if you do not know where it is will be a real to locate through the hole once lid is removed.Erstwhile - D3 S '07. a couple of weeks later
Well, after a couple of weeks the kits are still performing well in both RRS and D3.
Sound quality and volume are just great. I had 2 ipods hang, but after reset they have behaved fine. At least I also know how to do the CTRL-Alt-Del with the ipod now too
Got a fright at first cos I thought I had fried them.
What a great pleasure to have. How did we ever do without ipods in our cars?

Also been very satisfied with the kit ... working flawlessly so far .. no freezing etc. Find myself listening to iPod most of the time now and not most of the rubbish offered on the radio these days.
Funny now that controls are on the wheel I seem to be changing tracks much more often ... What do you mean it won't go there ?

You can use http://gopod.free-go.net to increase the ipod's volume . It worked on my 2 4g ipods - but not one the video ipod (just doesn't see it at all) . I'd appreciate it if anyone has a video ipod to try it out and let me know
