I bought a January 2007 TDV6 HSE second-hand with 37000 km on the clock (now has 42000 on) which had done some Richtersveld trips (rough, rocky terrian for those outside SA...). Felt quite wobbly, but thought it was me not being used to air suspension. Yesterday drove a friend's 2008 TDV6 S and it felt much more stable. Questions:
1) Any suspension difference in HSE vs S, or 2007 vs 2008?
2) Can one adjust the stiffness of the EAS?
3) Suggested replacement time (km on clock) for standard LR shocks; and does this decrease when doing annual off-road trips?
4) Apart from Baben's Spiro system, any suggestions on replacement shocks available in SA?
5) Should fitment be done at LR agent or specialised shock vendor?
6) Other suggested solutions -- I do not need something spectacular...?

daniem firstly welcome, secondly, wasted no time in getting your
D3 into the bush
As for your questions:
1) None that I know of.
2) No.
3) Work rate related :have not heard of many replacements.
But some wallowing has been reported.WEIGHT as I'm
one of them.
4) None.
5) Stick with LR for now.
6) Have the dealer who sold you the vehicle check all the suspension
bushes as there have been issues here. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

I did a lot of calling arround and the only other damper I could find was the koni. they will bring a set in for you . I have a set at home if you want to see them. Not had a chance to fit them yet as I have been having a few issues .
The Koni dealer is 'Mr Shock ' in SA

Had the Koni's in for around 1k now ...... originals did 33k and in normal driving not much diffs .....however loaded and pushing, massive change. Taut and responsive without being harsh
Shox are progressive under load ala Steve.
So far very happy!!

I ordered 2 months ago so got the shox at 9.5G's. I had LR Waterford fit them at 2.5G's. I believe Steve can now fit them.
Either way ...... around 12G's.
Cheers

Thanks for all the feedback. Will have a chat to the Koni guys and also to LR Centurion and relay what they say about my questions.

Did 3600km in the D3 this Dec with the Koni's now settled in. Towing a Echo Chobe of 1550 kg's, RR with another 150kg's on and back of D3 loaded to the top with 5 people inside. Previous excusions with this load was higly entertaining as the shox ended up being overworked and too soft. Half of the kilo's was off-road and included deep mud, dirt roads (marked as very bad road on T4A) and overall, the Koni's passed with flying colours. No swaying, no fading ......handling close to standard although the heavy weight was felt in the fuel consumption.
Based on this, I would say the 12G's for Koni is a needed upgrade for heavy loads and/or towing.

Well 6000 kms of warranty left. Needless to say its back at LR getting things repaired again. The phantom power loss is back , with D3 cutting on hard acceleration .
I think that report has put me at ease about the koni shocks , and I will get mine fitted soon.
