The door speaker rattle - do I have to remove the door panel |
|
The front door speaker rattle is driving me nuts (HSE, logic 7 system). I've seen plenty of other posts complaining of the same, but the solution was to take it to the dealer and have them fix it. Well, my dealer claims they can't hear the rattle (after 2 visits) and won't do anything about it!
So, I'm gonna have to take this into my own hands. I'm handy with the tools and have even installed the ACM kit into my LR3 without problem, but I REALLY don't want to have to take the door panel off, because I know I will break something! Is this my only option for fixing the rattle? Does the speaker grille pop off or anything?
Thanks! 2013 LR4 HSE lux | Santorini Black | 5.0 V8

From experience with past cars (not the LR3), I'd also advise you to make sure that what's "rattling" is actually a door panel - a blown speaker can cause a rattling noise as well.

I have a really annoying rattle coming from what I thought was either the seat belt mechanism or something in the rear door. From reading this it probably is the speaker

Buy a dozen or so trim clips before you go at it.

Where would I get these trim clips? Perhaps I should just leave it with the dealer and get them to sort under warranty.

bobic - did you ever find a solution to this rattle? I have the same thing and have tried to use felt pad all around the seat belt mechanism, but still hear the rattle on bumpy roads

sgregg67 - I still have the rattle unfortunately. I asked the dealer to look behind the door card at the last service and they said thet couldn't find a problem, i get the feeling they didn't bother their
Anyway it is due another service soon at a differant dealer and will ask them to look into it. I will let you know if they come up with a fix.
