There's a meetup being planned for the 26.10 in Safenwil (Home of LR in switzerland). Sausage and beer thing plus entertainment for the kids, look around the show room at new models etc.

What winterpneus are the Swiss D3 drivers using? Anyone on 19"s? I presume not.

been out with Andi and Florian (userfehler) - using Cooper STT's IIRC
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

Interesting JF. Not really a winter tyre but presumably good in snow itself, and offroad, and probably OK for all year gentle use. Just weighing up whether to immediately replace standard pirellis with winter or other type when it comes in Feb (hopefully). I read somewhere that braking distances are a lot worse with AT type tyres in all conditions, and handling a bit more wallowy, and that one tyre suitable for all year didn't really exist. I presume we'll see what happens to the UK D3/D4ers on summer or AT tyres as the snow freezes up there.

Embarassed Embarassed Apologies...I completely miss-read your post (which is doubly stupid as its only a few words... Rolling Eyes )

For some reason I blanked out the "winter" bit of the the question...

But are you looking to change to a winter tyre in February to run all year round ? I (personally) wouldn't do that due to tread and compound differences between winter and "summer" tyres.

I'm on 19" winter tyres (Goodyear) - and they work Thumbs Up

No problem.. 8) It would be pretty unusual for Swiss types to run non-winter tyres in winter, it's pretty standard to have two sets. The car comes with summer tyres so I'm just looking for winters. I've done some research and it looks like in 19s with a 111 load rating the choice is limited to Pirelli Ice and Snow, Vredestein Wintrac and Conti Winter Contacts (haven't noticed your Goodyears). A German mag has just done a review of the D4 on the Contis (not in snow but offorad) and they reckon they're good in the dirt at least. Tyre comparison reviews (in other sizes on other cars) rate all 3 pretty equally. It would be good if one or the other was better offroad on top of winter ability, but I wouldn't run them all year round. One review rates Pirelli STTs (all season, offroadish) well as winter tyres too. Like everyone, looking for something that would work well in all conditions! Mr. Green

Looks like I won't be needing winter tyres so soon. Gives me time to research I guess.
