I got told the same thing by the manager of my local STS in Aylesbury when they were doing a tyre shuffle for me last week.
They seem to know what they are doign and used 2 jacks on the front even laying on the floor to make sure position of the jacks was right / safe
Still 1 x 19" Scorp at £40.00 less than the next steeler I don't mind even though they had to swap 2 tyres as well as fit the new one. All in the price. GOOD GUYS FORECAST FOR TONIGHT: things have happened out there!!!

I also came home last Friday to discover D3 on drive with flat right rear with nail in, I would say its a conspiracy, but you are located a long way from me...
Not sure if I am going to get it repaired or replaced, need to RTFM on placing new tyres on just one end front/back (spare is new, and on general basis new tyre on just one side is bad) as I think there is a bit of metal in the opposite side and I would rather replace than risk the repair failing while SWMBO is out in the car (its her daily driver).
Interesting you have the TPMS, SWMBO's answer why she was driving still when it "felt funny" was that the light had not come on, I had to explain there was no light!... but to be fair there was a TPMS system in the mini we had before.
So is AJS 4x4 no longer a site sponsor?

Well I got my tyre repaired in the end for £12+VAT at the local place I use for all my tyre needs.
Usually I am not a big fan of repairs, but it was clearly screwed (straight through) and a straightforward repair, and and we have a set of four scorpions that are quite worn and a brand new spare, so I wanted to drain the life out of the set, rather than putting new tyres on one axle with a worn spare.
Reminds me must give bogblaster a call as he offered to talk winter tyres

TallPaul - I still think it's a conspiracy, despite the distance!
Ended up back at the tire jockey place yesterday with wifey's car, screw in the right rear tire
FREE repair again (if wasting 45 minutes of one's life can be called 'FREE')
Now all I need to find is a set of take-off 19" HSE rims and tires, so I can get away from cleaning these 10 spoke 18s 08 LR3 SE V8 - 02 D2 SE7 V8
