sometimes when i start the d3 the voice command will pipe up totally on its own and yesterday i tried to turn the radio up on the steering wheel and that activated the voice command has anyone out there experienced this before, is it one of those thing or should i take it to dealers

sounds like a problem with the steering wheel buttons or the 'clock spring'

Mine was doing that a couple of weeks ago. Entirely my own fault, with the electric gismo I'd attached to the steering wheel controls. Have you recently added or fiddled with the ipod ACM? It also takes a signal from the steering wheel controls.
The steering controls are a simple resistor ladder network. The reference voltage comes from the stereo head unit, at just a little bit less than 5v, but I suppose it is possible that this would reduce if the battery was struggling, for example during turning over, and this might be misinterpreted by the head unit as a button press.
I think you're right, a visit to the dealer is required.
