I arranged for my dad (who is blind) to drive a tank and then a quad bike round a course by listening to instructions. He was doing about 40mph on the Quad bike with an instructor sitting on the back luggage rack. The worse thing was the instructor had a broken leg, so he had his leg sticking out as they did it.
I also got him a flying lesson from Southampton airport, I was sitting in the back and the instructor didn't even have his hands on the flight controls. Apparently my dad could just feel by the pressure on the control stick if he was going up or down

Despite the flippant nature of my posts in ths thread, i have total respect for anyone with a disability of any type who does not roll over and wallow in their disability, but tries to enjoy life to the full despite their disability.
My cousin lost a leg in a motorbike accident when at university, it has not stopped him from doing extreme sports (460 mile canoe race down the Yukon in Canada ) or pursuing a succesful career as a specialist registrar in trauma and orthopaedic surgery.
For me the biggest disability of all is poor attitude.
Life is what you make it, disabled or not in my opinion.

Echo that - guy at work broke his neck playing footie couple of years ago - doctors said would never walk again
Through sheer determination and amazing support from physio, now up and about with only slightest indication of spinal damage - that is gutsy

I agree.
I lost my sight for nearly 3 weeks earlier in the year when I was diagnosed with diabetes. It was an experience I dont want to revisit.
 to anyone who can continue to live a fruitful and active life. I dont know if I could cope  Duncan

My next door neighbour wrote the software that helped a blind pilot (Miles Hilton Barber) fly his microlight from London to Sydney.
Now if a blind guy can fly that distance I would think buying and driving a car should be a breeze
