the dreaded steering shimmy on 20's |
|
Well, it affects RRS's too. Found this over on the RRS forum
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/gallery/albums/us...ation1.pdf
So, it still a bit of a lottery, some are OK, some not. For those of you running 20's with no shake, all I can say is you lucky barstewards
Looks like mine could well be about to come off again.

So .....what do you reckon Al??
Is it the individual vehicle or the wheel/tyre combo that produces this shimmy???
Have you ever had a set on that were ok [shimmyless] on another D3? ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

it doesnt seem to matter what 20" wheel/tyre combo (as I've tried 3 different sets of wheel/tyres now), but it is a 20" issue. It seems to be down to the car - some are OK, some not (as per RRS forum as well), and it looks like mine's a NOT.

I've got the Super 7's on and no shake or shimmy what so ever. Grabbers are slightly noisier than Conti's but I like the 114 load index better than the 109

Im looking for a set of Stormers as the crew I went to could not get me correct wheel rating I wanted. Morons! Thats what they told me after 6 weeks of constant calls from me . Im left with 4 x Grabber UHP tyres 275's so just need the rims. So Al might be interested ! Would be interested to know Al if you decide to fit those 265 50s how ride is! I had another theory whilst sampling a few beers last night wonder if shimmy has something to so with having sidesteps fitted then again you know what beer theories can be like !
