Frontrunner roof rack installation

I had a Frontrunner 1.6m (actually 1.553m) roofrack and ladder installed yesterday at LA Sport, Windhoek. Wonderful, sturdy and ingenious solution. Very Happy

However, on fetching the vehicle, the sunroof was open and would not shut again. Shocked It turns out that the installers had opened the sunroof after installation and it had slightly touched the roofrack resulting in the sunroof going into the customary Land Rover 'safe' mode. Crying or Very sad

It took an hour at Land Rover to rerun diagnostics to remove fault and re-align the roofrack so that the sunroof did not touch.

No big deal really, but a good tip for other installers to first open sunroof and rear hatch to align the roofrack.

One of the main reasons I don't want to take mine off again is that it seems to just fit without too much room for error

Hi Sandlover,

Would it be possible to post some pics. I am especially interested in the track. Did you also get the FR track? If so, could you post pictures of the ends of the tracks.

Reason why I ask, I want to see what it looks like, as I am in the process of putting track on, but have not decided which, which will be followed by the Front Runner roofrack.

Thanks.

Thanks Baden. Pictures are great, and a real pity about the expo rack. Have you got a closup of how the FR gets mounted to the front?

Hi PierreJ

Frontrunner tracks and rack on my D3 have survived with no issues being overloaded with wheels Jerry, cans and other gear over heavy corrugation at speed and off road, eg Hay river track, simpson, oodnadatta track, plenty highway Tanami etc with no ill effects, cracking or loosening. Very happy.

I have the tracks and (slimline) roof rack from Frontrunner and very happy. Recently added the slide-in aluminium table which is supplied in kit form also from Frontrunner - took me a very short time (30 min) to fit. 2 Z-brackets are fastened to the underside of the rack in the same fashion as the top and a catch fitted to the rear of the rack prevents the table from moving forward and back and can be locked.

A bit expensive for a table (R1595), but the convenience of having a table at hand and stored again in a couple of seconds and saving valuable packing space makes it worthwile - for me at least. Thumbs Up

Ps - I see the latest website of Frontrunner has an awesome pic of kitted D3 gliding ofer some sand dunes

Baben, tell us more about this Disco (frontrunner page), saw you have some photo of it in you gallery.
If I am not mistaken I saw the same Disco in Faerie Glen PTA sometime ago.

You guys have convinced me. I will go see the local agent on Tuesday, and have a look.

I am sort off convinced for the FR rails, although I don't think they look as great as the LR/Rhino tracks.

Heine, have you got the standard LR rails, or did you "upgrade" to the FR rails?

Thanks
Pierre
