Reading the manual for my recently acquired 2008 (57) HSE, I got exited by the bit on the Venture Cam (bit of a sucker for gadgets). I enquired at my dealer who advised it is only available as factory fit - is that right?
On a similar vane, what about a reversing camera?(57) 2008 HSE

It could be a factory fit as they need some engineering codes to enable it .
I have one and have never got it to work ..the docking station to charge it is £150 on its own ...and its not designed for the D3 , so it would have to be "made to fit somewere"
The facility is there on the nav screen ..unfortunatly just plugging it does not work.
Same with the reversing camera ..it will not swap over when you put it in reverse ...Lr had my car for a day trying to enable it , but could not do it .
Search for +venture +cam and have a read of the previous posts
I have a reversing camera , which has to be accesses through the diagnostic set up ..You could use an interface box that interups the signal from the nav unit to the screen ...not cheap though .G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Ive just finished fitting a mobile CCTV using a 2 channel "Mirror Screen" that i bought off Ken. All pretty easy to fit.
I use a RF remote to switch the Recorder (160GB standard hard disk) on and an IR repeater to remotly control the Recorder. It has 4 inputs (1 wired upto a camera in the tail light housing to monitor the tow ball, 1 wired up to a rear facing camera on the roof, 1 wired up to a front facing camera and the final one wired up to a camera on the back of the caravan/boat) and two outputs that go to the "mirror".
you can view all 4 images (quad mode) in the mirror or select individual images. Images can be recorded individually or as a Quad image using the remote.
The CCTV recorder and remote came from Maplins, the cameras from ebay and the Mirror Screen from Ken (but you can get these off ebay also)
All fairly cheap and a lot easier to wire up than i had expected.
The benefit of this is I can still see the 4x4 info or sat nav whilst viewing the images.
Just an alternative option for you...Duncan

Hi,
Yes I bought a Garmin Nuvi5000 GPS unit that is 5.2" across and it has a AV input on the side that can be used for a camera or video. It has 2 built-in speakers.
The power to the camera comes from the rear reversing light.regards
Peter
