Heated windscreen fault - not covered due to chipped screen
Is this correct - just having lots of warranty odds and sods sorted before the end of the 3 year warranty.
One of the many issues is the heated windscreen:
Missing some quite large areas.
The dealer says that Land Rover will reject this warranty claim as the screen has a small chip in it (not in the area of the problem but more in front of the driver, but not enough to fail MOT)
Does this sound right to anyone who has been in similar position? I believe the dealer, but just wonder if anyone else has similar experience?

I'd make sure it had a bigger chip in it & then get it replaced on insurance (you don't lose your excess)
if that doesn't solve it, then its def a Warranty issue I'd say Bodsys Brake Bible
I was thinking along those lines - I'm not really going to argue it as not worth it, considering the amount of work they are doing at the moment. Just curious to see if others had same issue

Hmmm interesting.
I also have a chip in mine but it does (did!) clear OK vertically along where the chip is, but there is(was) a stripe elsewhere.
Mine was in at the stealers this morning for a new seat base and a check of the front heated windscreen - the bu**er would NOT clear this morning for ages, and not in the normal big sheet slide way. They tested it and said "it's OK" - maybe it was because it was -5 degrees this morning Any way, its registered with them now so if it genuinely is shot they can sort it even if I keep it beyond the three yearsSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
I think the insurance is the way to go I suspect as I'm sure at some point I will get a bigger chip that needs sorting.

Mine has just had a new screen due to a chip that spread into a crack along the width of the screen,it never affected the heater working at all
On another note though the rain sensing wipers are now kapuut Its not the height of the fall but the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!!

Sounds as logical as refusing any electrical warranty work because the bonnet has a stone chip in it.....agree insurance is probably a way to go but that will IMHO still cost some excess (£50) on mine so isn't what I would want to do for a genuine element failure that looks unrelated to the windscreen damage.
No doubt it IS possible for the shockwave from a stone impact to break the elements elsewhere in the screen but that is for them to show it happened in each and every case.....
Maybe the best way would be to ask LRCC to contribute your excess under your insurance or some similar contribution???Cheers

Are you sure they replaced like for like? Do you still have the rain sensing 'window' visible in the centre top of the screen?Bodsys Brake Bible

Had mine repaired after picking up massive chip on route to Tunisia. I think the heater thing is working OK, will check when I get it back from the stealer.

I've just had mine changed on warranty as I had similar issue as your pics show, I did have a couple of minor chips in the screen, however funny enough not where the heated elements were failing!'56 Disco 3 SE - Tonga Green

I wonder if a call to land rover customer care might shed some light. Rather not put it on the insurance as everything seems to bump your premium.
Wife had 1 bump and 1 windscreen , and that counted as 2 bumps so they upped the premium.

We dont have many heated one in OZ but i have fitted about 5000 windscreens and cant see how a
chip should effect the heating.
Show a windscreen specialist and get an opinion
then ask LR how the chip has caused your problemPete
