Any coments on fitting the full size spare ( replacing my got with car space saver ) under the car.
Should it go with the outside up or facing down?
Is it worth protecting with wd40 or such like as it is in the road muck all the time?

Put it with the outside (pretty side) of the wheel facing up.
And its unbelievable how clean it stays TBH - even after wading at Boughrood.
May need a bit of foot action to keep it lined up while winched though - don't over tighten it but make sure it doesn't move when in place...a good push with your foot will tell you if its tight enough. It will clunk else.

I didnt think you can overtighten it, as it starts clicking (like a torque setting) once tight enough.

Yep Al, manual states to tighten until it clutches out...  Cheers

If you go too far it can damages the mechanism. So stop as soon as it clutches out. If you keep going, it may cause an issue.

How do you mean? If it clutches out it can't go any further, agree you can get a problem if it doesn't clutch out. Cheers

Well the answer is in your post  If it clutches out then misses the clutch a few times... then you could damage it. It has been known.

If it "missed the clutch" then it is already damaged.... I'm just happier advising anyone to tighten until it clutches rather than some definition which may lead to it being insufficiently tight.... Cheers
