Side trim fell off my car this morning!
The black plastic trim along the bottom of my drivers door just decided to part company with the door. I managed to recover it before anyone ran over it, so it seems intact and undamaged.
However, I can't get it to go back on properly. All the pegs are still in the door, and the white receiving clips are still on the trim, but I can only get a couple to click into place.
Are the clips intended to be single use only? is there a special knack to getting it back on properly?
I think the reason it has come off is me using the airjack in the vicinity of the door which may have loosened it.

try a bit of oil (not WD-40) on the yellow nipples to reduce the force needed - also put the trim on the radiator overnight (assuming you have some working )

I dislodged my door trim when I tried to shut the door and my walking boots got in the way (dont ask how!!) ... I thought it had gone back on ok after a good whack, but I ended up replacing the clips in the end as it never seemed to be 'as good as new'... They were only coppers to replace. As you slide down the banister of life

Talking of cold and trim. This is what happened to my car in Courchevel. The rear drivers side trim bent away from the door in the cold. One of the younger members that were with our group opened the door when he felt resistance he pushed the door harder as he thought it was frozen and this is what happened.

Gareth if the whole clip( peg, nipple ) part has come off the
trim, and remained in the door, pushing the trim back on will not
work. As the trim section of the clip slides into a slot, you must pull
this out of the door and refit to the trim slot. And they are a sod to
remove with out damaging them, I now keep a few spare. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

Same thing happened me a while back - problem getting it back on was due to dirt on the yellow clips. A good wipe of a soapy sponge cleared them up and it clicked home perfectly. Panel had been loose for a while so I guess dirt and general grime got on them.
Should be easy enough to cure......yellow nipples may be more complicated to solve A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.
