Definitive guide to FBH reset please....
Any chance someone can post and make it 'sticky' please
Searching throws up so many varied results, I want to try and sort mine without it going in to the dealer as when I rang to book in they hadn't a clue what I was talking about.
Also - tried to pull the fuse under the bonnet but got the wrong one now the airbag light is stuck on even though fuse is back in place 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Depends what you think the problem is ? If it's in locked out mode you can clear it by disconnecting the power connector for 10 seconds.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

On GTR there are 30 possible reasons for FFBH DCT's ...but the four main causes are: low fuel, your battery voltage is too low, you've crashed or the unit is in lockout mode.
Beyond that it would seem that you need to be hooked up to diagnostics 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Sure you pulled the right plug? (only two wires in it, purple and black) it sits under the route of the wiring harness. Easier to pull fuse 28 in the BJB next to the battery.
Mine also had a fault code on the car and only responded once that fault code had been cleared as well.
Here is andychelt´s pic of the FBH
The connectors from the left are: 1. FBH coolant pump 2. Canbus/W-Bus from timer (if fitted)/FBH fuel pump 3. Main FBH power and ground
Cheers

Do I have to be in sleep mode for this to work?
Or rather, should the car be in sleep mode - I'm rarely out of sleep modeRob Smith
Silver rools OK

From this, am I correct in thinking the the coolant pump is powered off the FBH i.e. it has not direct connection to battery itself - just wondering as I'm thinking about powering the FBH and coolant power off the auxiliary battery.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Correct, the FBH coolant pump is powered and controled by the FBH.

Can't see the need for this, the FBH cannot necessarilly access all the fuel in the tank unless the engine is running, the LR instructions in the timer kit advise to restrict the running of the FBH to 30mins when the car is tilted nose down or to one side (can't remember which), consequently the FBH may run out of fuel before battery capacity is remotely an issue.
Also, without the engine running (or at least ignition on), there is currently no way to move the heat generated into the cabin, if the ignition is on you are draining the main battery in any case.... and obviously if you are running the engine there is no battery capacity issue.
What did you want to achieve by wiring the FBH to an aux batt?Cheers
Only doing alot of short journeys and so the Cranking battery gets a beating, hence the thread last month "Do I need a new battery", and SWMBO likes the FBH to run on timer so the car's nice an cosy shortly after setting off.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Then adding batt capacity will only extend the time between charging by another method, ie taking for longer run or ext charger....
Perhaps a mains plug-in block heater that directly heats the coolant from mains elec would be better, obviously takes zero charge out of the car batt but requires unplugging before setting off. Heats the coolant in the engine as would the FBH. Can run off a timeswitch at the mains plug...?Cheers
