I am not into fuel economy, hence I had the D3 V8. I am only protraying my 10 years of Land rover ownership, I am not saying the Nissan is perfect, just its more reliable in my case. I dont buy cars for economics, my subarus which I have had 4 have never let me down, 2 covered in excess of 150K Forester Turbo and Impreza UK Turbo. If you look at most reliability surveys I think you will find alot of unhappy owners, Nisan is not perfect but for over 10K less than a LR se spec it makes sense especially when its bought and paid for, also wont lose as much money. I paid 14K for my Aventura which is specced as per HSE, I can keep it for 2 years and sell without losing much money and without all the breakdowns. Any Nissan mechanic will tell you the problems are with Navars D22s not the Pathfinders or D40 Navaras. I have alot to do with the motor industry and have a fair knowledge of what works and what doesnt. Again its each to there own.
try this link, says it all i think. check the whos in the top 5 of each, i don't see any nissans

MelanieH, did you have problems with a low-speed shudder, perhaps preceded by the 'box "hunting" up and down the gears at very low speed? My September 2006 320CDi is doing that now, even after a dealer reset. I'm hoping it will last until September this year, when the lease expires and (global financial Armageddon permitting) I can switch to a D4. It's a pity, because in all other respects the car is really superb, and I'd buy it if I thought it would be reliable. I heard that the problem is still linked to the way that the gearbox intercooler runs through the main radiator matrix ... made by Valeo?
Yep..... that's exactly what started to happen, it would almost snatch your head forward changing gear sub 25mph.... at first I thought it was when I was in 'sport mode' always a tad more lively but when driving in comfort it started to do it too..... the dealer had it in and 're-set' it with some updates from Germany and told me it was OK. As soon as I drove off I could tell it wasn't right! Took it out with the senior technican who again fobbed me off with 'that's how they are madam' but I really wasn't happy. Anyway - to cut a long story short, I complained again, the dealer acknowledged it was a problem and requested a new box under warranty. However..... Germany refused to accept there was a problem and wouldn't let the dealer replace it until more tests were done. The car was at the dealers for nearly 3 weeks before it was resolved and they agreed for a new box. I scraped in on the warranty though - the car was 3 years old in September and the dealer finally managed to get an agreement on Aug 24th....! Thank god! Thing is I've lost confidence and really don't like the gearbox at all.... My lease is up in September this year and I'll be waving bye bye!!Mercedes SLK 280

Exactly the same here. This is my last Mercedes. Too many lemons. I'll leave it for the lease company to sort out.

Maybe as said earlier i will come back, but not for the foreseeable future. I agree there are +/- for most brands, this has been one of the hardest decisions I have made car wise, I loved the D3, but just couldnt rely on it, at 80 mph the suspension going into safe mode is scary. I just dont think its safe. I am not the only one with that experience, others have had the EPB lock at speed. I dont think the Kudos is worth the risk.D3 V8 SE AUTO

Quoting Honest John as a source of reliable and unbiased trade info is funny. His name isn't John and he's an investigative journalist by trade who hangs around the auctions, recycling the gossip.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Agree with Jonty.
However I would concider one if it was all I could afford.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
