EPB failure, anything I can do???
As it says on the tin, my EPB has packed up totally. Phoned LRA up and tuns out that this part of the country (Grantown on Spey) does not have technicial cover , all they can do is sent out a tow truck. As the car is booked in to Frank Ogg in Elgin next Wednesday for a long list of issues to be sorted I don't want to loose the car early which will happen if the car gets taken away on the back of a tow truck. I don't have the patience to go through all the hassle of sorting out a rental/loaner
The EPB is flashing orange & red lights after applying, then says Park Brake Not Operational, is there anything I can to to reset it short of taking the wheels off & hitting the system with a big hammer??? ISTR there was some sequence of buttons to press but I may be getting other things confused.
As an asside, definately not worth paying for LRA cover up here, I'd be much better off wirh RAC/AA type cover.

Just leave it alone. Let the dealer sort it.

Like Gareth said, just don't use it till you get to the stealers.
When mine did this (800yds down the road from the dealers after having my first squealer fixed ) it turned out it was a failed EPB switch. Just so that short circuits can't slam the brakes on for you, there are two switches in there each with totally separate wiring - if they don't both report the same position at the same time, the system knows it's failed and starts b!tching. I have no idea if the switch can be taken apart and fixed. Of course, yours may be a different problem too Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
