Interesting Points

I have just been speaking with a friend who purchased 5 Disco3's from Land Rover as damaged during production vehicles. His plan was to simply repair and sell them on. However LR banned the easy repair and only agreed with a full breakdown and component swap and rebuild of the vehicles.

Once the rebuild was done his guys powered up the first one and received over 3000 error messages. It took 3 days to clear and sort them all out, but they did learn a great deal about the Disco3. The whole 5 took over 10 days to re sort the electronics and get back on the road. The rebuild was simple in comparison apparently.

One point he did mention that may also be of interest was about chipping and he uses TC with excellent results. His RR is chipped and goes like a rocket thanks to TC's tricks, but if the oil is not changed at half the normal period (7500 miles) it degenerates badly. So if you have been chipped change the oil at around 7.5K.

No, they were straight from LR and they had received damage in the holding compounds.

Was it the dammed mices that had the new one they tried to palm off on me?

This sounds mightily like it could be the same thing as LR have backtracked and admitted that the damage to the one I drove for less than a mile was damaged around the factory, and is paying my dealer to re-wire it.
