LR V15 Sat Nav Update Disk

Just ordered the update disk from Whereis for my 05 HSE, was running Denso v13 update which worked real good just didnt have voice commands, never could understand me anyway. The denso disk is $100 dearer than the LR version so I went cheep and got LR but dont want to loose input on move functionality.

Has anyone in Oz got input on the move turned on (Autologic??) without using the 1791 patch method??

I am going to remove the Loading.Kwi file and burn another copy first to see how that goes.

Please let me know whether you are happy with it. I am also contemplating upgrading mine, but since it is Whereis, instead of LR, it does not seem to upgrade the firmware as the LR original does. Can you confirm this or not.

G'day Pierre,

Pm sent with link

Yes I will update the forum when the new disk arrives.

The disk is specifically branded Land Rover for the Land Rover Discovery 3, Range Rover Sport MY06 Onwards and Range Rover Vogue MY05 Onwards

Thanks Ryall.

Link received. In the UK and South Africa, there are GPS updates rolled out with the map updates which are bought from Land Rover. I understand this is a map update, and would like to know whether the extra functionality is included in the update from Whereis.

It should say something like Updating.... or something like that, and there is a "Menu" button that appears on the maps while navigating, etc..

Have been running the V15 LR SatNav update disk for a week after I removed the Loading.Kwi file and burnt a new copy, keeping the original safe at home.

It has all my functionality back to normal while retaining the 1791 destination on move shortcut, as well as voice commands that I lost using the Denso update disk.

My trundlebus is a 2005 HSE and had LR V10 SatNav disk as original equip.

Ryall Very Happy Very Happy

Dannog you have a pm.

Re sat nav update disk, the direct link to the WhereIs site is http://poweredby.whereis.com/shop/Whereis-Online-Store.html

regarding making a backup copy and using this in your car, which is what I did, you only need a DVD burner and a single layer blank DVD. I used Verbatim DVD+R 4.7gb and the free version of Ashampoo Burning for one copy and Free ISO software for another copy, both of which work well in the car.

thanks Ryall, i'm a bit new at all of this. (not yet allowed to send PMs)

Is the LR version worth the extra $40 (ie $295 vs $259) to purchase or is it really identical to the standard one?

The order form for the whereis disc is for VDO datum / C-IQ and requires NAV ID. What do I use for this?

AND

why did you "removed the Loading.Kwi file and burnt a new copy". What does this file do?

The LR version is a Denso system not VDO. If you have a genuine LR system then it will not work with a VDO update disk, it will only work with the Denso ($395) update disk or the LR ($295) update disk.

If you have a non LR system then whatever brand is applicable.

Re Loading.Kwi file it is for retention of a shortcut to allow enabling select destination on the move on genuine LR navigation systems

Thanks again Ryall Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I'll purchase the OEM LR version then.

Based on your explanation then if I delete the load.kwi file before burning a copy of the disc to use I will be able to select new destinations without having to stop the vehicle

Re destination on the move, it depends on how old your system is and if old, like mine 2005, then if it has been upgraded with a genuine LR disk that turned dest on move off, if turned off, it cannot be reactivated.

Do a search using +1791 +sat

Also see http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic23613.html?highlight=1791+sat it has a wealth if info on the subject.

Have fun,

Ryall

Sorry, I forgot part of your question re Loading.Kwi

I replaced the new Loading.Kwi file with the one from my version 10 disk using ISO then burnt a new disk.

Just so I get this right, I have an 05 tdv6 hse which is still using the whereis v10 disk and I can enter an address into the sat nav on the move.

If I buy the latest map whereis map offering, now v16, I have to delete the Loading.Kwi file so I can continue to enter addresses on the move before I load the disk for the first time?
