I got my lamp gaurds and cup holders from TLO today. Thanks a bunch TLO! The guy who redesigned the cup holder I hope got a bonus, they work perfect. Lamp gaurds will be fitted tmrw.
My uncle has a jeep hes selling and gave me the winch off it. I had to remove it but it came off pretty easy. The planetary side had been taken apart. It lookes like it had some water in it. All the grease was crusty and some of the stuff was frozen up. I took it all apart and threw the bits in a vibratory bucket with some degreaser mixed in with the media and everything came out like new. The winch is a Magnum 9k wich was a budget brand of Warn its been since renamed the Tabor series but they look to be identical except mine has a bosch motor and the renamed one looks to have an asian motor. Ideally I would of liked a 9.5k or 10k but you cant knock free. I took the motor apart and it was in good shape no sign of mosture and brushes looked good. Put it back together and put power on it and it went. So I just need to put the planetary back together and get some new line for it and its good to go.
Now I need a bracket..
Any recomendations on what type of grease to repack the planetary with?

I don't know what grease should be in there but I replaced the grease every year with normal multi purpose grease, that worked fine on my Camel.
One tip seal the motor with kit so no water gets in but then also put a breather on and no rust will form in the motor.
And if you don't use it regulary, spool the cable afew times per year, if possible under load so the motor gets warm and the moisture out.Roel

I replaced the grease in my Defeners winch with the greeny/blue Marine grease, the sort used on outboard engines and boat trailers wheel bearings. it keeps everything waterproof and has worked well now for 18 months. normally with the standard grease i have to strip and clean the winch a couple of times a year. Which reminds me, i should check the D3 winch Duncan
