lrdef110 wrote:Norto, just interested if your independent mechanic was able to reset the service interval on the ECU. I am due for my 12,000km service in a couple of weeks and don't want to use the local dealer. I have acces to a highly regarded independent Land Rover mechanic but he has not as yet updated his Autologic for D3 compatability. Are you aware if this is neseccary or is the ECU reset manually somehow. I am currently on day 25 countdown for the first service which will coincide with approx 12,000 km and am just wondering what happens when D day arrives - or should I just read the book.
Thanks, Barry
I'm at 37,000kms and haven't ever had an service indicator?
Do any of you guys get one?
Our oil services are more regular than the UK guys (They are 15,000mi), perhaps they disabled it?

i've got an Apr 05 HSE build - and i do have a service indicator.
it's come up for both the 6 month and 12 month service.
i had the enhancement completed during the 12 month service.
also i have the corporate servicing.
to date, i have not paid a cent on any maintenance or services, which includes all parts and labour. I even didn't have to pay for my pink slip for rego renewal in NSW 2009 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE

My service indicator came up at 9000 km but I had previously elected to have an oil and filter change at 6000 km. I spoke to the service centre (LR dealer) and the advice was that the indicator displays at 6 month intervals.
Because I didn't get to drive the D3 for almost a month (overseas on holidays) I won't get to 12 000 km until about September so I might be booking it in a bit before the 12 000 km appears.
Mine was a late August 05 build, late Jan 06 delivery. LeighW

My D3 had that many trips back to the dealer in the first 12 months maybe the service indicator got reset at some stage so what I saw might have been a 6 month one.
Mine is due for the 18 month service in Sept 06 so I might see the indicator if I'm lucky.

I've had mine just on 12 months and didn't get six or twelve month ones.
Bit superflous to me though, since I did 48000 in the year and had four services. Furthermore, I religiously service my vehicles so it doesn'e ned to tell me.
What I would prefer is a warning to tell me that I'd punctured a CV boot! That would be more useful than a gimmicky service indicator. Have a nice day!

my build date is 9/05 and posession was late 1/06.
It done just over 10k, and there been no service indicator at 6 months or 9k or 10k.
I will watch with interest to see if it does it at 12k.
Any one heard when Mr Turbo Chip is coming to Oz this month. The last communications was he was going to be down under this month?

trm - whilst slightly off topic and I apologise for that, but if you got a TurboChip upgrade are you not concerned that the enhancements that LRA apply from time to time might wipe out the benefits of the upgrade?
Unless there is a TurboChip dealer appointed locally, there would be a possibility that you would have a wait until Chris can return to Australia to re-apply his handiwork and enjoy the benefits that I have read about from our European cousins. LeighW

My 48000km service cost $725, but this includes the $184 cost of the diesel filter which has to be replaced at this service. Labour was $380. The rest was POL and incidental stuff.
I noted that the bill listed one task as 'reset service indicator' . So I assume that i have one, it's just that it's time based and I get services before it has a chance to show itself. Have a nice day!

leighw, I have pm Chris about that issue of it being wiped, and who would redo the job, like in England, so you continue to get the benefits, but are still waiting a response.
It is an issue that concerns me before committing to it being done.
