tyre selection
Zaphod
Would always recommend Cooper ST's I run on 245/70/R17's and mine took me all around
Morocco and numerous play days and never ever miss a beat! and still going strong at, believe
it or not 40K and never had to use the spare so their tough too, I cant fault them, gonna try the
STT's next time. Talk to the lads at Silverline, at the Donnington show last month they where
talking some good deals. I'm presuming you've got 17" rims!
Think if my memory serves me correct they where £94 each

Zaphod, don't dismiss the standard Conti 4x4 contacts, used mine on green laning trips, Tunisia (rocks as well as sand) and general day to day stuff. Tough as old boots and only had one puncture in 2.5 years. And cheap as chips. I might be biased as I have 8 on rims and 6 off!

Yeah, I know it's been discussed ad nauseam, however I think a few new products have come out in the last 6 months or so.
I'm looking for something that'll do 65% road, 25% mud & grass and 10% rock, sand, snow etc.
So feel free to throw in your tuppenceworth all observations welcome
BTW, heavy snow forecast here tomorrow
The reason why this has been discussed ad nauseam is that the perfect "brilliant everywhere" tyre... simply doesn't exist... As far as I'm concerned, I'm always skeptical about this percentage thing... 60% on road, 32% sand, 3,5% mud and the remainder being rocks... It's like asking for a lady that would be 34% S.., 27% cooking, 12,5% soccer fan, 5,2% culture and the rest... silent you see the point ?
What you seem to be looking after is an all road tyre with a little preference for wet grounds... I would say that the best compromise for you would be BFG AT/KO. ST's and AT2 might be too much for dry and relatively hot conditions and STT's as any other Mud tyres might (will) be too noisy onroad.A second D3 ! This time with all whistles and bells (Auto, 7seats, Diff Lock, RAI, all kinds of protections, winch, Extended range tank, iPod adapter....)
First time twice the same car ! and first time third car of the same brand !
I'm loving it !

If majority usage is road then a road tyre is best. For the minority of times you want to go off-road, the electronics/TR will take care of it. They are incredible on road tyres 2007 Porsche Boxster (987) 2.7
