OK I've read up on the previous posts on how to fit the rear mudflaps. The metal bracket thingy is looking to be quite fiddly, but that's not were I'm stuck.
All along the top edge of the mudflap, where it would meet with the wheelarch, there seems to be an approx 2mm raised lip. I tested by putting the part against the wheelarch & it ends up not flush.
My question is should that lip be filed down or cut off ?
Hope you guys know what I'm talking about.

Firstly, if you're planning to do any serious off-roading - don't fit the LR original ones as you'll snap them off in no time - details on the alternative in my gallery if you're interest.
Secondly, PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you the LR fitting in structions in PDF format. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Just realised the PDF is small enough to upload to the galley, so click here LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Just read the instructions...must have been done by a 2 year old. I can understand why a lot of people would be confused by the metal bracket fitting.
However it doesn't answer my question about the lip.

From memory it all looks good once you tighten it all up, that metal bracket needs some head scratching and diagram staring and you need to get right under to work it out but it all makes sense in the end.
Caught one of the rears at the weekend, its still there, but needs adjustment...

I didn't remove the lip when I fitted mine. The lip meets up with the wheel arch like a sort of 'lip seal'. I fitted mine when the Disco was new, don't know if the arches deform a bit over time/use giving a gap when retro fitted...

Fitted mine this am and left the lips on.
With a good push the lips shut out against the trim.
The instruction pamphlet is rubbish, I couldn't make top nor tail of it but once underneath there is only one way that that bracket for the rears will really fit.
To tighten the screws I used a sawn off allen key into a minature socket and then inserted one of those phillips stubs with a hexagon end into that and it just about rotated without taking the wheels off.
