Land Rover Feedback on site?

It would be of great benefit to owners (& LR themselves) if they took the time to have a senior member of staff look at some of the postings on the site even if they did not contribute, but just put an acknowledgement that they looked at owners comments. This is what many companies in the IT industry do in their forums and it is amazing how successful the ones that then incorporate users requests in upgrades actually are at retaining cusomers & building brand loyalty. Unfortunately LR will probably learn the lesson too late as it appears from the situation at Jaguar (another Ford company) that Ford takes an approach of "we know best & will just throw money at the company while it suits us" Come on Ford/LR, start listening more to your customers & make a success of a great vehicle.
Any thoughts on how to throw the gauntlet down to LR to actually pay attention to comments on the forum?

Totally Agree

I was thinking exactly the same thing, this and other sites would be so valuable to their product development people....not to mention customer services.

I had honestly thought of cutting and pasting some of the key topics in to a word document and mailing it to the CEO with a covering note. Perhaps that should be Martin's role?

Not sure that's Martins role, kind sole that he is for hosting this site. He doesnt even have a Disco3 yet.

I do recommend to everyone that if a fault occurs, they record it here with full details of the fix.

At this early time, taking that information to your dealer will speed up the fix time. For example, it is quite a coincidence that my HSE has had a corroded cable to the brake control module, and mwilliams in the USA had the same. The corrosion also influences suspension error messages and possibly many other sub systems that check the parkbrake is working. Maybe there are several vehicles that have corroded cables and the owners dont know it yet. My car has only done 1950miles !!!!!

I think my point was more that compilled feedback by multiple owners may be a better way to communicate global issues that seem to be affecting numerous customers vs individual approaches to dealers. Don't get me wrong I think that both should happen. My suggestion of Martin, was not wanting to tread on his fine work. Ultimatly as the SYSOP he may want to do this. I have no issue taking this forward and probably will.

I have to say reading through the posts on this site, dealer responses have been variable in terms of support and I would fall in to the category of having a very difficult dealer, hence my desire to have some of these joint issues escalted!

Hi both (and anyone else reading!)

At the minute the issues list (at least in my view, correct me if I'm wrong) is being used by Disco owners so they know they are not alone with an issue and can go to the dealer say that they know of x people with the problem. It's more an information source currently, and not a whinge list (at least I think).

I'm quite happy to put together a PDF/Word document (or real-life document) with the reported issues on and get it off to Land Rover HQ - however I don't know what (if any) sway a (currently small) web site will have with Land Rover. I know it's different with other manufacturers, who sometimes work with the 'fan' web sites to sort out group problems. It may be worth a try though, and the issues database on here will easily convert to Word.

I would love some kind of LR feedback, if only an official line on each of the problems DISCO3 are having. However, seeing as LR seem to have trouble communicating to the dealers about various things, I can't see them putting effort into direct user comms at the minute.

Anyway, they're my thoughts currently, am open to a telling off for being lame. I do agree that a company response on these issues would help, perhaps that's the answer - wording the letter to LR that we users would like an official answer rathering than going down the complaining line. Evidently, as a non-D3 owner I can't tell you all what's best for you, so am open to any suggestions. This is your site too, and it's going to try and work hard for you all!

Oh and obviously I'll only get the list together if you users club together to get me a Disco to personally deliver it in Wink

Martin
