More than surprised!

Before telling you what I've been quoted, take note that I have ZERO no-claims to transfer onto my new D3 which I'm getting on Friday..... This is not due to making a claim in the past, it's just that I have a number of cars and the new D3 is an addition rather than a replacement.

First, the car:

06MY Brand New TDV6 SE Auto
Modified as it is being 'commercialised'
Turbochip being done from new (declared)
no mileage limitation
Full Business & Private use
off road cover

Drivers are both in their 30's and one has an SP30.... (me!)

So how much do you think I've just been quoted???......

£1000............ No

£800.............. No

£600.............. No

£400.............. No

£367 Surprised Laughing

(Read the title if you want a hint where the quote is from)

You must live in a very low crime zone, and where there are no other vehicles that could accidentaly meet yours.

Very Good Quote that.

I just did a "lucky" quote online and mine came out £368 with full ncb,no turbochip and no off road cover as you can't specify these online.

My existing insurer quoted me an extra £135 on top of my £354 premium if I wanted to add the TC treatment and no off road cover.

I reckon you got one great quote!

I have to be fair here and admit that this isn't something you are going to replicate easilly. The 'more than' quote is a commercial one rather than a private car quote, as my D3 will be a (rather posh) van. Also, my location is reckoned to be one of the lowest risk areas in the UK. At the end of the day, the new quote is still a hell of a lot better than the £500+ I pay at the moment for a 1999 300TDi commercial.

Believe me I checked..... AND DOUBLE CHECKED!!!!

It appears that 'More Than' are happy to take into account the fact the neither myself or my wife have had a claim in the past 5+ years and we have been driving on our other insurance policies during all that time.

In fairness to myself, I have covered over a million miles without a claim so I'm glad to have found an insurer who will take this into account - even though I dont have a transferable no-claims bonus.

This has a lot to do with it too I guess. It's headline news in the local rag if someone gets their wheel trims nicked, and a stranger in town might as well have a huge sign on their head.

I've spent a fair amount of time 'down south' and I still enjoy the wry smile I get when people talk about how they couldn't imagine being so far from civilisation. You 'southern softies' should just keep thinking that, and meanwhile we will continue to enjoy clean air, open spaces, plenty of snow, low insurance premiums, no traffic jams..... do I need to go on?

When I actually worked for a living ( 8) ), I had our company director who came North to work with me for 3 days to 'encourage me' to come down and work in the London HQ. After three days he stated that he 'now understood' why I wasn't moving, and why no amount of money was going to change my mind. Shhush - It's a secret - Dont tell anyone Laughing

I'm sure there are down-sides to a northern existance........ but ignorance is sheer bliss, and it will be even better on Friday when I get my D3SE (Van) Laughing

JMC - Did they tell you that the down side is that a dog with sausages in its mouth will come round and set fire to your garden shed?

Shocked Laughing
