Gutted
My 05 HSE displayed the suspension failure message on the way to work Monday morning. Thought nothing as when I turned off and on the message cleared. Driving home in the evening, got the same message. Was about 4.30 so called suppling dealer. They were all busy and would call me back.... got home at about 5 to 5, called dealer and they were closed... called LRA and was told that the tech was finished for the day (was past 6.00 by now). Was told that they would recover the car to dealers and supply me with another car. Then was told that local Avis was closed and could not provide car unless I went to Gatwick to collect it, and it would be any car they have - not a D3. Seems that the extended warranty entitles you only to a standard size car (if I unly needed standard saloon car then I would have one). Then LRA found a tech and a nice man from Mondeo cam out but could not read the fault codes as he did not have the right kit (and correct wires).
Was told that car could be driven as the indicator light for the fault was yellow and not red.
Called dealer the next morning. They agreed that suspension pump needs replacing and would call me back to book car in.
Called back to be told none in stock in dealer and non available to order....
Was advised the car is OK to use but when it breaks, call LRA and have it recovered back to them (the dealer). Then take the loan car for 48 hours. They will then have the hire extended.....
Called LR customer services today, very helpful. Explained that the shortage of the pumps was due to the credit crunch and suppliers going bust. No stock in LR as they don't manage the parts. No idea when the pumps will be in stock, thought it could be a couple of months !!.
He did confirm that I am only entitled to a basic car and only for upto 7 days, then I have to give the car back and would be left with no transport.
He also confirmed that the car can be used as normal but I ought to refrain from using the suspension adjustment.
He apologised but agreed that I have no option but to keep using the car until it breaks completely (currently only getting the "suspension fault", "will raise when cooled" and "suspension raising slowly" at the moment.)
He would not confirm either way that by using the car I may cause additional damage. I do min of 140 miles per day to work and back.
Does anyone have any advise? Will I do more damage to the car using it? I have searched the site and read the suspension fault posts. At least their seems not to be loads of the old pumps on the shelf somewhere...
Regards

Get LRCS to put it in writing in case you need to take further action later I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

probably also worth pm'ing TLO (The Large One, Nick at Yeovil) to see if he can work his magic and make a pump appear
