10forCash/Offroad Essentials - 2nd Service |
|
Had my car serviced by 10forCash at the weekend. It was the second service, so still in warranty, but I decided I was fed up with the shoddy service and endless attempts to sell me things that I didn't need by franchised dealers.
The tailgate had recently stopped working and I had already taken the car to a dealer to be fixed once. They kept me hanging around for 90 minutes while they did a 'free visual inspection' and looked at the tailgate, then informed me it was due to chafed wiring and that they would need the car for a couple of days to trace the location. When I mentioned this to Iain he responded in a way that seemed to suggest that the dealer didn't know what he was talking about Within 25 minutes he had located the fault (faulty tailgate release switch), removed it, taken a picture as evidence, and made a temporary repair to allow me to use the tailgate again. So only 47 hours 35 minutes faster than a main dealer then..……
Iain completed the service and pointed out a few things that needed looking at (suspension bushes). The dealer had spotted one set of bushes that need replacing but Iain pointed out that both front and rear ARB bushes required attention too. He also noticed my brake pedal was starting to go hard, and checking the servo pipe found oil in there (already noticed by me, but missed by the dealer - although they drove it to the workshop, it was only a visual inspection ) He then filled out a proper LR maintenance check sheet, including a section listing the faults found for me to take to a dealer to be fixed under warranty, and stamped my service book for me.
The cost was a lot cheaper than any dealer I checked prices with (and that includes the fuel used driving to Derby and back from London). On top of that I got a proper breakfast and numerous cups of tea! Oh, and he found a screw I had dropped in the car and spent literally hours looking for (A-pillar airbag trim screw) - I asked if he had one, explained why, and within a minute he had popped off a bit of trim under the drivers seat and recovered the screw
I can only recommend Offroad Essentials (10forCash) for any servicing you require, whether in or out of warranty. It's very refreshing to know you are getting the truth, rather than a 'salesman' trying to sell you brake pads you don't need and ignoring the things he doesn't think will earn him money.
Thanks Iain 8) Disco 5 HSE Lux

Mine is out of warranty in July and will be requiring a 105K service around August so will ask TFC to quote.
Iain... if you are listening, do you have the tools/kit yet to do the belts
Stu, Quote:pointed out that both front and rear ARB bushes required attention too
were you getting knocking front the rear suspension ?. Ive had this a few times and thought it might be this. Got mine booked into the dealer on monday for an MOT and end of Warranty Check. Duncan

Iain changed my steering wheel recently and said I have faults logged for EGR valves.
Took into dealer today and indeed they are changing them so thanks very much for spotting the error messages. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

A small knock from the rear, but the offside suspension bushes there are really knackered. TFC reckoned the ARB bushes just need shimming - just starting to show signs of wear.
tanters - don't think TFC has ever tried to sell me anything. He does keep trying to give me beer though, which isn't the problem you might imagine
The point I was trying to make was that whenever a dealer tells me I need this or that done I just don't believe/trust them. Having a service done by someone I trust really makes a difference. Disco 5 HSE Lux

TFC serviced my D3 last week in my work car park.
As well as doing an excellent job (for less than my stealer), he pointed out my ARB bushes would need some attention in the near future and advised that 4 wheel tracking would be useful when I change the tyres (there is some uneven wear on the rear set).
As everyone says an excellent and very knowledgeable service.
Cheers Iain

Hit the nail on the head in one word, "TRUST". Iain done a service on mine not long ago, he noticed my air filter was recently renewed due to the concrete dust started to block the old one, he just gave me the one he was gonna put in. Not many do that to be honest.
Will ALWAYS use TFC
