|
Does anyone know if the new sat nav DVD updates the software and allows data entry on the move?
I'm just considerign whether its worth updating the Nav disc.....
Currently my car doen't allow this, but I know new ones do

No the disk does not enable it ..although you need a newer disk for the software to take (Disk needs to be YIW 500200 or above ) G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

If by data, you mean addresses and places for the sat nav to guide you to,then the answer is yes, it can be programmed on the move, I have the 2009 disc, but I am pretty sure that the 2007/8 disc allowed the same.

It's not the disk, its the version of satnav software and enablement of it (on pre MY07) MY07 onwards had it as standard Bodsys Brake Bible
D4/D3 Remote FBH heat kits
BAS Remaps/ EGR Blank
Transmission Flush
Software updates/enabling
Clock/ SNOTM /3Flash / 4x4Info /BT Update /Service Reset/Error Codes / Gearbox Reset

Actually, it is most definitely the CCF that dictates this option, although it is the display unit that acts upon the CCF setting for it.
However it is not a simple matter of enabling it in the CCF to get it to actually work, there is a lengthy procedure to activate it on any vehicle on which it is not already activated. And as Wiggs already stated, you do need later disks for the Sat Nav as well. I think that all newer cars do already come with it having already been activated and of course with newer NAV disks too.
I won't go into detail, as there are always others willing to learn from our efforts and development rather than do their own, but as i understand it; at present, there is only dealers or indies with IDS that can do it, or Wiggs who has the benefit of being one of our software development testers. However soon, due in no small part to his efforts and help, we will soon be releasing the capability to all our system owners.
hope this helps.
