Expo rack security?
Having fitted my Expo rack i feel a little unsure as to it's security from unwanted little sc*mbags who prowl round at night, These racks are only held on to the roof rails with two brackets either side and a 6mm bolt at the front.
i was wondering have any forum members had their expo rack nicked and what idea's has anyone come up with the secure these racks against theft. Steve

Taking a chisel to the 6mm bolt's thread sticking beyond the nut certainly prevents easy removal (just think through how you'll eventually remove it when you want to). This is a "tried-and-true" method practiced by many vegetable farmers who find they are surrounded by suburbia and have farm machinery dismantled on dark nights.Jim Dowell - D4 HSE TDi, 12,000 hydraulic winch & hidden winch mount, MTRs, TyreDog, Traxide 2 x aux battery system, fixed air compressor, Dolium roof rack, MitchHitch.

personally I think its unlikely - its a (comparative) b*tch of a job to get the bolts out along the sides and don't forget it weighs a fair old bit so its not a likely candidate for your average opportunistic scouse sneak thiefSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Put a floor on your rack, that way its abit more bothersom to get to the bolts for removal

Aha - I've realised why, for me, it seems such a sh*t job to get the rack off - the base board is causing it Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Steve, without the floor pan it probably takes about 10 mins to remove Steve
