Having noticed a slight coolant leak I thought the local dealer would be the most convenient option for this small warranty repair.
First attempt - D3 collected from work as arranged, fault identified but required part not in stock, agreed to leave the car with them overnight, no problem. Also advised that the front brake pads are 90% worn however after querying this on a 17k mileage vehicle it was apparently entered on the wrong job card and my brake pads are fine after all!
Called next day to be told that the wrong part had been delivered so I arranged for the car to be delivered back for the weekend’s planned tintent adventure to Sandend.
D3 delivered back all nice and clean inside and out although missing the towball cover, when I called about this they had found one in the wash bay and it too was returned to me.
Second attempt - D3 again collected from work, fixed and returned same day, all seems fine once the spilt coolant had burnt off the engine hot bits which smelt rather worryingly similar to a fried clutch, I was assured that it was indeed the coolant but al least the issue is recorded on an email. Again car all clean in and out though the front tyres had been painted with the black gunk they use to tart up forecourt cars, look awful but will soon wash off in this weather.

Standard practice and stock answer for many stealers. If not queried you'd have been a few hundred quid lighter

Yup JMC, I know what you mean, but hey, mistakes do happen
The 'fixed' price to fit new front pads was £190 (inc VAT) but I've never paid anyone to fit brake pads in my 30 years of car ownership and not about to start now, especially as all the required info is detailed on this site already. I reckon 2 hours tops would see the job done when it's required and that includes digging out a boiler suit from the back of the shed.
