Here's a few more...
We'll start with a couple more shots of me doing what I seem to do best...get stuck. This time it only took 10 minutes...
Airjack - great piece of kit. It helped with the recovery...(must now get some waffle boards...)
NJF playing around
And despite the Kumho's - NJF couldn't get up this slope.
The Lesser Spotted NJF in the undergrowth...
(It may have been at this point that NJF's winch cable incorrectly spooled. It was a very heavy recovery - using my D3 as the anchor; breaks full on; and NJF having to pull himself over a small but steep slope with what amounted to an overhang. At one point he was winching me backwards despite brakes being fully on - I was basically being dragged. And it was not possible to be straight-on due to available space)
Up on the big climb
Here is the difference between offroad and on road tyres. At the very same spot.
2008 - ground much, much drier. Stuck, crabbing (nearly dangerously) and in need of a tow:
2009 - ground damper, very, very sandy and loose. Straight up...
A final one of NJF...
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
