Hi Glynne,
If going for the fridge/freezer, I suspect that temperature readouts would be useful. My 40L fridge is old enough to predate such accessories.
While Engel do make an accessory readout available, I went for a "TwoZone" unit which has:
- a readout hard-wired to the sensor, but also incorporates a transmitter to,
- a wireless remote readout, which also has an ambient temperature readout (and a clock).
I have a second one of these for monitoring the caravan (tintent) fridge.
The fridges are NOT meant to be hardwired. I haven't seen any evidence from the site to suggest this. If bare wire ends are provided, it's simply to allow you to fit your plug of choice.
HTH,

Well volunteered Glynne LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.
