disable predictive text, wont stop 'em sending SMS but it'll take soooooo much longer
ISTR there's a (UK) mobile operator offering contract phones with a 'price cap', T-mobile offer the Flext packages which gives you a few £hundreds worth of credit which you can use on text's or calls, they send you a SMS giving you the balance every week... monthly bills for three phones is always sub-£100 and that includes 1 teenager

He is in the US TFC
Seems there are umpteen UK solutions, Black Box not being one of em.
but its obviously a common problem.
Is there no US equivalent to any of the UK style possibilities to limit usage or expense ?

Is that the USA - as in US Australia, as the OP is in the southern hemisphere I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

My teenage daughter had been regularly asking for topups to her pay as you go, even when "trying" to not send many texts.
I got her a contract phone from Orange (although I think most operators have a similar scheme) which has unlimited texts, 90 mins of talk time a month and includes a phone for £15 a month. Apart from going over the talk time limits a couple of times, and some international use on a ski trip, it's been the regular £15, even when sending 1000's of texts in each month.
Obviously though, this is only one form of communcation, given half a chance she would also spend every hour at home on MSN and Facebook as well as the texts going. I've had to put software based time limits on these.
