Fitting number plates
Excuse the numpty question, but I'd appreciate some tips on fixing plates as the current ones are stuck on with adhesive pads; I've almost lost the front one twice.
If I get some self tapping screws, is it simply a case of drilling pilot holes in the plate and screwing 'em in? And with regard to the rear plate which is obviously going into metal, any areas to avoid (wiring?).
Thanks in advance...

Use the Extra Strong 'No Nails' double sided Red tape. It is far stronger than any other tape I know and as long as surfaces are clean it will be on for good SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

If you have a NUMBER PLATE PLINTH then yes you can use self taping screw, otherwise its No Nails Pads, they work a treat on the bumper

Ah the number plate plinth, one of the cheaper modifications for a D3 at around £7 I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

It's a good question, on mine the front looks a bit wonky after one too many fast fordings !!
Not had the front bumper skin off, so unsure where the loom is behind it . . . ."To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

The tailgate should have holes already there (usually taped over from factory). The only good thing my supplying dealer did was to fit plastic inserts in these holes and drilled the rear plate to screw into these. Front one is stuck on though.

Many thanks. I reckon I've got one of those plinths so I'll get the Black 'n Decker out soonish. No wiring behind the bumper, I take it?

Good point 90BHP /Mac, it might be advisable to take a foglight out and have a look (with a torch and mirror ) to see where the looms etc run exactly, ISTR they run across at about half way up, just where you would most likely drill.
I'm going to pop the grill out and see if I can get a look down that way. Loom does run across bumper as I moved a fair few for people last year and had a it of a look-see but it was 12 months ago "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
