im getting a slight rattle, sounds as though its coming from the drivers side
appears when decelerating at low speed in low gears.
engine only has 200 miles, so hoping it will go away.
im not making the engine labour, so Im sure its not that.
any thoughts?

Can you feel any wobble in the steering wheel ?
Could be balancing issues.
Also check that all the covers are clipped on securely in the engine bay.

Ah! It's a manual...... Must be the thrust washer on the clutch. Nothing to worry about if that's the case. All my manual Discos have done this. Damn annoying though.
To be sure, listen for the noise then 'touch' the cluch pedal (ie- don't depress fully). Does the noise go away? If so, it's the thrust bearing washer and is best described as a 'feature of the car, sir'. If not, seek more advice.

The thrust washer bearing sounds like the cause - however this should only be a problem after 100k+ miles. Mine is a manual and is fine as expected. 2006 TDV6 SE
