Engine/gearbox noise
I've got a 55 reg TDV6 auto which recently had a 60K service and a EGR valve replaced. It came out with a new noise that the dealer had so far failed to diagnose or fix. Its associated with engine speed and is most noticable when accelerating through 2000 - 2500rpm. Its a difficult one to describe - more like a 'chuffing' than a whine. I could imagine it was like something slipping in the gearbox although it is only barely noticable as a physical judder. I've seen the posts about double flushes of the auto boxes but couldn't really find a complete list of the symtoms folks had had prior to this fix. Is mine one of them? I'd take it to a different dealer but since they caused the problem i'd like them to fix it for free. Any advice greatly appreciated cos they are starting to suggest they will give it back to me until it breaks down properly.
Thanks, NeilCheers,
Neil

It may be that repairing the egr has restored some missing power, and introduced the transmission judder that others have noticed.

Thanks Gareth but there were a few days between the service and the replacement of the EGR valve and I'm sure it had the noise during that gap. It has been in and out of the dealer so much in the past weeks though that I'm struggling to remember.

Latest news is that it is the fuel pump - possibly. I will have to wait to find out though because it is on back order and I am going on holiday.Cheers,
Neil
