New to disco's , new to the forum. Advice required |
|
Hi, I would appreciate some advice, I have had my d3 (2004) 54 plate SE for about 12 months and I like it a lot. I was looking at updating the sat nav disc for the latest version as I am driving to france next week. Whilst browsing the web for a reasonable price I came across your forum. After delving in deeper and deeper to many different subjects over the last week. I have decided that i have confused myself and tried to take in too much information in such a short space of time so have decided to ask you guys for help.
1- I would like to upgrade to the latest maps available this seems simple enough just buy a new disc insert in dvd player and wait
2- I would like to unlock sat nav on the move. I can already input previous destinations and home destination. Is it possible to unlock everything?
3- I would like to unlock the 4x4 information screen and off road maps...no idea how?
4- I would like my ipod to be completely integrated with the sat nav screen, not even sure if this has been done.
5- what else can i get on the sat nav screen ( i do quite like gadgets)
Thanks in advance for any advice
PS - I have had just had a suspension fault light (amber) normal height only appear today. Not what I need just before we go away but hey. Its booked in the dealers for Monday to get it checked out????

Welcome Mat
I can help a little bit
1 , I can help you out with the latest disk
2 , I can unlock everything
3 , I can unlock your 4x4 info screen / off road sat nav
4 , This can be done ...at the moment you need an alpine interface and interface to get you to the screen ..rough price £400-£600 ...alternativly you can buy the LR ipod kit ..it dosent display track names or show any nice pics , but it will allow you to select tracks via the steering wheel controls ..about £150 self fit .
5 All sorts of diagnostic stuff , diagnostic trouble codes , add a few inputs and you can watch up to 3 video inputs via the nav screen
Suspension light could be any number of things ..most common is the compressor G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

thanks for the information
Wiggs, where are you based?
how much notice do you need to do the unlocking bits on the sat nav and supply me with a new disc?
When could you do it?
how much can you supply the disc for and how much would it cost to do the unlocking?
Regarding the ipod kit i will decide which route to go and then probably ask a few more questions.
thanks again

Just back from France in my April 09 D3.
The LR SatSav is useless in France. Don't waste your money buy a TomTom and you can also have warnings of speed cameras.

I drove down to the south of france late last year. I was generally pleased with the peformance of the navigation considering it was only a 2005 disc. (which is the reason i want to update)
It got me to where I wanted to be every time even though the french road numbers have changed.
It was missing a few sections of new motorway. but this is to be expected on an out of date disc.

Going to France end of next week 09 disk has every stop off place I looked for & stored as a memory point
Also used http://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/index.php to find some cheap petrol just off Motorways for fill ups.
Worth £10 a tak full & I am a Yorkshireman. Anyway, also found every station I looked for on LR disc so not sure why NJSS had such a problem.
I also Have a TOMTOM & yes it does have most of the French speed cameras, but its the mobile ones you need to watch out for !! Them frog police are beggars for finding some small pull in to set up their mobile camera & waiting 100m further down road...also watch for 'em a few Km from a peage on Motorways.!! Cheers Ian

I also used the satnav for my 4 week european holiday and it worked very well
Kept me away from dreaded toll roads.
Found the quick POI's very useful for getting to the cheap (supermarket) fuel stations en route too.
