Registration plate plinths
Over the weekend, three vehicles 'suffered' from detached or partially detached registration plates. Apart from the one that was screwed to the soft A bar , and one on a RRS that was only taped on, one didn't have the plinth fitted, which I thought was a standard item. Looking at some of the other vehicles it seems a bit hit-and-miss.
Behind the reg. plate is the two mountings for the plinth and the plinth itself has multiple mounting holes to accomodate reg. plates.... so who does and who doesn't?
seems silly not to fit them to me as a bit of water (or mud) easily popped the plates off

Apparently...
Vin range: 6A355628 Onwards
The front bumper European registration/license plate plinth will not be installed on vehicles built from the above VIN. Only vehicles destined for markets where it is a legal requirement or have identified a specific need will continue to receive the front bumper European license plate plinth. Specific markets will receive a different license plate plinth while others will receive no license plate plinth. Markets with no plinth should secure the license plate directly to the front bumper.
So not sure if its a legal requirement in the UK but this may explain some not having one.
Mine has.

So my new car won't have a plinth, FBH control, parking ticket clips and mud flaps, anything else they want to nick off it. It'll look like little 5 has been near it DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Mine did have a plinth before the winch was fitted and large chunks of the front bumper were removed, plinth is sitting in my shed, free to a good home if anyone wants it
