D4 fully spec'ed possible?
I'm about to place my D4 order.
I'm interested in a fully spec'ed car, however some dealers say that sunroof + [rear diff, tv, rear air-con] is not possible. Others say it is! Anyone knows if it is possible to have a fully spec'ed car (like the ones at the NY motor show)? Only option I do not need is the Rear entertainment system.

If the display one had those options then yes it is! Bearing in mind the amount of cash you're about to spend, you'd think the dealers would be more helpful!
Try getting one of the more positive dealers to confirm that this is indeed the case and, if it is, guess whose going to be getting your custom ... Regards,

Not necessarily the show cars are pre production and may differ from the production vehicles.

Totally agree its not hard to sort, simply sit with your dealer get him to start the ordering process on his puter and start ticking the boxes.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

There was a post on here to say you couldn't have the active rear diff with the rear seat entertainment system for some odd reason! But as you don't want that you should be OK2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Just got a reply: sunroof with only ONE of [rear diff, tv, rear air-con]!
Thinking of retro fitting what I cannot get, but I'd rather have the car options factory installed.
Is there any LR dealer reading this post who can actually do a D4 full option for me?
I would really appreciate it if anyone could give a workaround on this!

I think rear aircon is pointless personally as the main a/c keeps the whole car cool, rear diff helps off road but is not essential (can't be retro fitted though) and TV, well again for me a pointless option. Not helping much am I 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Not really CFB, but thanks for trying mate!
Rear diff is a must for me, rear air con is nice for a 7-seater, plus better than an empty roof switch panel (not much of a claim that, is it) and tv could even be necessary for some of us, especially if out on the move most of the day.

I think there are some technical reasons why you can't have all these fitted, rather than the dealer being awkward, it was to do with the physical location of the modules to control these options. Have you tried to speak with one of the dealers who sponsor this site for the definitive reason?2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

I thought when the D4 price list came out, it was something to do with weight - they weren't going to fit the active rear diff with the glass roof. But I can't imagine the TV ariel amp is very heavy? You could certainly have all three options on a D3 but the D4's kerb weight is supposed to be lower. (Does kerb weight have to be quoted with all available factory options, so it's a worst case?)
From a marketing point of view I can understand things being made cost options rather than standard, but I can't see that you'd want to stop someone paying more for their car!

The correct answer is no, its not an option to do this. My friend in Greece has been told this before from many dealers. The dealers who say yes do not know the spec guide.

Actually, to be exact, only two dealers said so and one of the two didn't mention this, till I told him about my concern. However, I'm afraid that you are right that the answer is (most probably) no. I think that dealers realise this when they are just about to put the order on the LR system (which is not the case when you ask for price quotations).

Just to sum up, for anyone interested:
For a UK spec vehicle:
If ordered with a sunroof you cannot have a rear locking differencial.
Rear air-con does not exist as an option on the UK spec price list. Don't ask me why!
For European [Belgium batch] spec vehicles:
If D4 ordered with a sunroof you may only get ONE of [Rear air-con, rear locking differential, tv],
if ordered without a sunroof you can have a Rear air-con AND a rear locking differential AND a tv.
