Locking wheel nut problem
Any advice would be truly appreciated.
My local tyre place has manged to f**k up my locking wheel bolt on the rear offside wheel. The top half of the bolt is now spinning quite freely, and the bottom half seems to be stuck. The wheel nut seems not to be able to latch on to the bottom half.
Is there a way to remove the wheel bolt without drilling and welding?
Any help would be appreciated.

Have the tyre place accepted responsibility for their damage? I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

The nut is design so if someone try to remove the whole nut with out the proper tool the head twist on the spines that hold the two bits together.

Ditch the locking nuts? Pretty big job to get a D3 off the ground to nick all four wheels...2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Thanks for all your comments. I am aware how the nuts work, and the problem is not having a locking wheel nut - the problem is how do i get one out that is knackered? If you drill and weld then the alloy will most likely get damaged, and to use a reverse thread bolt is very difficult because of the depthe required in such a soft steel.
any help really is appreciated and I dont wish to sound ungrateful to those that have taken the time to post.

It has been suggested in the past to hammer a socket onto the damaged lock nut and then remove it with a breaker bar I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Mine did the 'top half spinning thing' - I rotated the top half until the top & bottom grooves line up, and was then able to hammer the wheel nut adapter fully home and removed the little bas rd
the locking nuts were than removed from all four wheels and skipped - replaced by standard nuts.
Good Luck
