Good places to source a used D3 HSE |
|
Morning all,
My local dealer has an 05/54 plated HSE that I am seriously interested in, but I think he's asking too much money for it.
Apart from AutoTrader and the LR Approved website, are there any other websites you would recommend to look for prices of used D3s?
Regards,

How much are they asking and how many miles?
I too have been looking for the last 2-3 weeks for a 1yr old HSE with less than 15,000 miles on. I've ended up buying a new one and have beat the waiting list too as my dealer has sourced one from another dealer and swapping it from one of theirs which is currently being built. It helped that I wanted silver (2nd choice was grey) with black interior, so there were a few to choose from. Got a reasonable price too...£3,800 off list. It made buying new the obvious choice. Matt

After a lot of ringing around myself over the last two weeks, it would seem that you can get big discounts on some new lower spec D3's, but not so much off an HSE model.
The best price I could get was £39,500 for a HSE with privacy glass from an internet broker. I ended up settling at £40,272 from a LR dealer that could delivery the car this month. Matt

Hi,
It's an 05/54 with 25,000 miles. It's got the DVD player and privvy glass and they're asking £35,950 for it. The DVD doesn't add any value for me so I was looking to offer £34k.
Does that sound reasonable? Always forgive those who p*ss you off, but never forget their names......

To give you an idea I've seen this in local LR dealership:
Model - Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE
Date 01/04/2005
Mileage 10101
Colour Tonga Green
Interior Alpaca
Material Leather
Transmission Automatic
Fuel Diesel
Price £37,995
If thats any help. I should push for as much as you can get........you've got nothing to loose by offering £34K for it, after all.....I'd see what the dealer reaction is. 2004 Discovery 3 - gone
2006 Discovery 3 - gone
2008 Discovery 3 GS - gone
2011 Freelander LE Special Edition - gone
2007 Discovery 3 XS - gone
2012 Discovery 4 GS - current

25k miles is a lot. I'd push hard on that price. Matt

I stated the price I wanted to pay for a new HSE in early Jan. for end of March delivery. Deals (serious ones) can be done at the end of each quarter, but it obviously helps if you have a switched on sales person who you stay in contact with. I used T.H.White & the Steve the senior salesman ordered my spec. HSE for end of March, knowing he'd sell it anyway. Maybe without such great service, I'd not have got such a deal. I will also use them for servicing & I guess that helps. At the end of the day, it must be good for dealers to shift as many vehicles as possible.
The only downside being that I wouldn't know until the last moment. It was actually the last week in March when I was told that the deal could be done.
I was in the fortunate posistion of not having a vehicle to trade & having other cars to use. As such, I was prepared to wait another quarter for the right deal.
I've been asked not to state the price on the internet, but suffice to say it was £1,600 less than the cheapest import (proper Uk spec.)I could find.

Hartwells at Oxford (LR dealers) have a 2005/05 D3 TDV6 HSE auto with only 13,000 miles and it is advertised at £34,365. Ask for Charlie on 0870 9049166 . It is Alveston red metallic. Matt

Thanks everybody,
I'll probably go in a litte lower, say £33000, and see what happens. I'm going to put down 40% deposit and finance the rest, so I guess the dealer can make up the money in the finance.
I suppose I could always go for a new one with June delivery; if I could get it for around £39000 it might make more sense anyway.
Cheers,

It is possible to get a new D3 in days if you're willing to be flexible with the spec and colour. I wanted an silver (or grey) HSE with privacy glass and the dealer has got one in two days, but without the privacy - so this is going to be fitted by the dealer. It is also an 06 model in the new silver colour. Matt
