I managed to blag a K&N filter yesterday, saw it in Halfords on the cheapy shelf with a damaged box and NO instructions. Now even I know How to fit one of those, and for £5.99 I thought I would give it a go.
I took it to the counter expecting to be told it was mis-priced, but no, was told it was probably ordered in error and its too expensive to return to them when its an error on their behalf.
So its all fitted, done the reset on the dash to see what consumption/performance it gives. Looks good, a fraction of the thickness on OEM filters too.
What I did notice though, how much crap like leaves and insects the air box collects with a RAI fitted, had to hoover that out 1st.
FYI - K & N Part/filter Number - 33-2333

I'm sure (psudo or not) that it's made a difference to mine (Not mpg..because now I toe it everywhere!)
Oh and now that pete's mapped it, I'm going to need 6 months to slow down 57 RRS TDV8

Its the same size I think, if its a D3 the air box will be the same size, check the code I listed at the top.

**UPDATE**
I have seen an increase I guess over the last week, same daily mileage, same route, same driving style using the manual change on a Auto, which I do alot. 2 mpg gain , not alot of difference but it has recovered the MPG loss from fitting the MTR's.
Only downside is the RAI induction noise is louder, but I guess its allowing more air flowing.
