No - the garage couldn't find any fault last time - kept the car for 4 days ran every diagnostic they could and said everything was completely normal. I rang to get it booked in this morning but no slots for 2-3 days & no courtesy cars for 2 weeks so I was going to wait until it throws the warning again (bound to happen in the next couple of weeks) and just ask LRA to take it away and give me a hire car until they fix it.
Is it common for a faulty battery to cause these types of symptoms? I find it really weird that the time I would have expected a flaky battery to cause issues (in the recent snow with several short journeys etc) it was absolutely fine and the time I would expect no problems (just after a good run) is when it goes tilt Confused

It may be a red herring, but I'd insist, as they haven't been able to find any other current drain, that they try a replacement battery - regardless of whether the battery diganostic test suggests it is okay.

Thanks - I'll ask them to do that unless they actually find some other other cause. I'll post the results either way.

Going back to an earlier post in this thread on how much carries on after you get out of the car and lock it, I found that the 12V sockets (nee cigar lighters) remain powered after the engine is stopped and/or ignition off until the car is locked. So if you don't lock your car overnight there is risk of battery drain there.
Having said that I often leave the car unlocked overnight with ipod plugged in and phone charger on and have not yet had a battery warning. Surprised Given the hugh power needed to run the electrics in this car and the huge alternator to keep that going, these things should be mere trifles.

Off Topic sorry but one other thing I have noticed after parking the car after a run (on level ground in the garage) and locking it (or not) is it often but not always makes the rising sound of a jet engine speeding up ready for take-off for a minute or two from beneath the bonnet. What is this noise?

I saw in here that someone had mentioned that a Gearbox Fault warning can be removed by starting and stopping the engine a number of times in short succession. Well never had the gearbox warning until I started and stopped the engine rapidly for some other reason and suddenly, there was the gearbox warning! Thankfully, one more stop/strart remoned it again. Probably and oil pressure issue with all that messing about.

Even if the car is not locked, it will all "go to sleep" and the steering column will lock after a few minutes - key in the car or not.

The noise you mention is the fuel burning heater purging itself on shutdown.

Fascinating! How do you find out about this stuff? Or rather, how can I find out more?

The post that I wrote said that you can trigger the gearbox fault warning by stopping and starting the engine. There is no actual gearbox fault it is a battery and software issue.

The noise you hear is the Fuel Burning Heater completing it's burn cycle once the engine is stopped.

I think Winger mentioned the gearbox fault in a previous thread too.

Hi,

with my RRS MY2010 I have the same fault - battery drain over one night after a full charging period of the battery a night before.

I messured the battery consumption in sleep mode: only 20 mAmps - not to much. But I think, that some processes are coming up.

The problem will come up nearly every morning. I can't use the parking heater as I want - it will be disabled shortly after it has startet working. I only have to put in my things into the car with open doors and I will get the warning to start the car because of low battery.

The car is from January 2010 - any suggestions?

What about the suspension level for parking? I have the car parked at the normal level...

Greetings from Germany

My car is currently at the dealers for a very similar problem.(Third Attempt!!) Virtually every cold morning I get a message on the Nav Screen that says "Timed Climate Unavailable" and the Fuel Burning Heater fails to start. I often go out the car in the early hours of the morning when it's been parked and locked for at least five hours and there is a big battery symbol on the instrument screen saying "low battery start engine".

The car shuts down with low battery after the infotainment has been on for just a couple of minutes when parked.

I'll post if they fix it!!

Sad Had to have car started by LR Assist/AA again yesterday, 2 nd time with a completely flat battery. This along with numerous displays of gearbox fault, loose turbo pipe, 30 + occurrences of running in low power mode and not able to go above 30mph when running late is making me think it's time to get rid of the car.
If only I still had a decent dealer nearby (my excellent local dealer closed so I bought the car from a Leicester dealer), I would try to reject the car as unfit for purpose. Has anyone rejected a Discovery 4 yet?
