So it's that time of year, I've had my D3 for almost 12 months now so it's insurance quote time
When I originally insured the D3 it was a standard vehicle, okay not standard for an S spec but as everything extra was factory or dealer fit and every insurer I spoke too at the time said they considered all the mods as standard as it was a new vehicle
During the course of the past year I've made a modification or two, as some of you may have noticed the result of which it's proving harder get a decent quote. The original extras are still being treated as standard but the new ones push my D3 firmly into the category of modified!
My current insurer (Liverpool Victoria) give me a high level of cover and don't care about modifications as long as they're not performance enhancing. They're giving me a decent quote and I tempted to stay with them but for two reasons; 1. I may get the ECU remapped at some point this year and 2. I have doubts about the level off-road cover - although they do cover me I'm not sure how good it will be should I need to claim, something I will clarify if I decide to stay with them
I've tried all the 'standard' insurers for quotes and although some are coming in slightly cheaper I know the cover won't include off-road use
I'm still waiting for a few quotes back but from those that do cover off-road (proper off-road, not just green lanes) some won't cover my D3 at all and others are coming back with some extortionate figures
So the question is... does anyone know of an insurer that will cover a modified D3 and include full (non competitive) off-road cover for a decent price?
Try the NFU through a broker - call Iain Randall on 01491 838877 (from http://www.countrymutual.co.uk/ Wallingford office). Tell him you were referred by Matt West. I've been using him for five years now on my commercial vehicles (all NFU policies) and will be insuring my new D3 with them too.Matt

What are you roughly paying at the mo Si ? (if you don't mind me asking)21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
My 109" is insured with Adrian Flux, not overly impressed with them but I'll give them a call for the D3, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised! The End

That doesn't sound a bad price to me - as you've said before though check the details of cover as the exclusion clauses seem to get longer each year.
I've stuck with LR insurance for 4th year running - marginally more expensive I than some I know but they've always come through in terms of service when I've had the misfortune to claim.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
