Recently, i noticed a whirring noise on start up and it continues when driving. It sounds 'fan' like but air con is off. Its fairly central feels like its coming from just behind the dash level with sat nav nearer the bonnet.
By co-incidence or by design this only started to occur after a safety warrenty work was carried out;
this was p008 - High Pressure Fuel Pump bearing failure
p017 - Brake Vaccuum Assistance System.
Has anyone any clue what this could be or has anyone had this whirring/fan type noise.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
P.S its in the LR garage now as I type 07/57 D3 Black SE Auto

Wes
I had something similar when I picked my 59 plate up from the dealer.
It was only noticable at idle, as road noise did mask it.
After a bit of digging around I found it was the wiring harness resting against the bulkhead instead of the sound deadening at the back of the engine.
If you unclip the acoustic cover from the top of the engine and look towards the rear of the engine bay towards the passenger side you will see a wiring harness about 25mm in diameter. Make sure this is not resting on the steelwork.
I put a cable tie on mine, just to pull it down out of the way, but once the initial bend was made it tended to sit against the acoustic insulation on the bulkhead.
Hope this is all yours is, as I was looking towards a noise from the fuel pump as well when I found this.
